Thankfulness with the Kids

Thanksgiving sometimes get overlooked as shoppers quickly rush the stores just hours later. I want to start giving this holiday a little more attention as my boys grow up.  We decided this year on a Thanksgiving Tree.  Written on each leave is something we are thankful for.  I'm sure we'll be adding more as the month goes on.   It's full of random thanks such as corn, sleep, Jesus, and various family members.  Vincent wanted every leaf to have G.I. Joe written on it!

It's only been a few days and we've been enjoying it almost as much as a Christmas tree!  We sipped hot tea around it the other night and had pumpkin waffles around it for dinner tonight.  I'm sure pumpkin waffles will be on a leaf soon...  The boys proudly set the tree on the floor so they could point out every thankful thought to their dad.

"We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”  F. Keoniq

What are you thankful for this season?

Love the idea! Did you just use a tree branch? What's in the pot - dirt, rocks?

Bethany,

Yea, it was just a branch that had fallen out of a tree. I just used dirt to hold it up in the pot because the branch was fairly light.

I like this too. I've been so busy with my house selling stuff that I haven't thought much of the approaching Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for and we are seeing God work in incredible ways. I think I'll have to copy this too. :) Thanks for the idea.
