If it was not a mega sale, you would not get more than .50 from a coupon for a .50 item. BUT the item actually rings up at .99 if you look at your receipt. The mega sale discount is a store discount that rings separately. This is why if you use a buy one get one free coupon during a mega sale, you get the price it rings up (before promo discount) deducted from your receipt.

Just to double check I looked at my receipt from today. All the .50 doubled for me! It will say "bonus coupon" next to the additional .50.
